On October 24th, 2023, Dr. Nalini Nadkarni visited the Prison Arts Collective office space to share her work and discuss the future of educational programs in prison spaces.
Dr. Nadkarni, a professor in the school of biology at the University of Utah, has done extensive research on the canopies of Costa Rican rainforests. She created her "Science for the Incarcerated" programs as a way to bring her ecological research interests to incarcerated people and help to instill a lifelong love of plant biology gardening.
During her visit, Dr. Nadkarni met with Prison Arts Collective and Institute staff to discuss their overlapping interests, and share coffee and snacks.
