Prison Arts Collective Retreat

On July 27th, the Prison Arts Collective (PAC) team from all over the state gathered in Los Angeles for our first ever PAC Retreat. PAC first started off the day at Homeboy Industries where they graciously included our team in their morning ritual. Next, PAC gathered at the Corita Art Center where we were generously taught about the legacy of educator and activist Corita Kent, and viewed an exhibition of her incredible work.

We then headed over to Homeboy Art Academy to eat lunch provided by Homegirl Cafe. Following lunch, Executive Director of PAC Annie Buckley and Research Team member Brian Heisterkamp hosted an interactive presentation regarding research findings as part of our RIGHT grant evaluation. At the end of the day, we hosted our first official screening of the PAC documentary “Facilitating Change: The Vision of Prison Arts Collective”. PAC was thankful for the family and friend filled audience for joining to view the special film in collaboration with Avalie Media. Such an unforgettable powerful day full of inspiration, collaboration, and community.
