Prison Arts Collective and Valuing Incarcerated Scholars Through Academia participated in the 2025 Restorative Justice Week. Restorative Justice week, which took place from November 16th through November 22nd, is hosted by the European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ), an international network organization that connects practitioners, academics, and policymakers working in the field of restorative justice across Europe and beyond.

PAC had an incredibly successful screening of our film, "Facilitating Change: The Vision of Prison Arts Collective", followed by a thoughtful panel discussion on September 29, 2025 at the Aztec Theater on the SDSU campus.

On September 21, 2025, Prison Arts Collective contributed four artworks to the Friends Outside silent auction, held in Stockton in celebration of the organization’s 70th anniversary. The featured works included Puppy by Domingo Lopez, I See You by Fidencio, Watercolor 2 by Virgil, and Koi Fish in Blue by James.

PAC visited Homeboy Industries to participate in their annual Global Homeboy Network Gathering at the California Endowment. The event included plenary sessions, technical assistance workshops, and talks from Father Greg Boyle.

On July 27th, the Prison Arts Collective (PAC) team from all over the state gathered in Los Angeles for our first ever PAC Retreat. The team visited Homeboy Industries, Corita Art Center, and Homeboy Art Academy. The day wrapped up with a special Friend and Family Screening Event for the first ever viewing of the PAC Documentary, created in collaboration with Avalie Media.

PAC joined the 2025 Justice + Art Jam at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on May 24 alongside other services, workshops, and speakers to promote creative expression and community connection.

Our first official SDSU-VISTA graduation ceremonies were held on May 15 at Centinela State Prison in the Imperial Valley to celebrate our 27 inaugural graduates who received their BAs in Interdisciplinary Studies.

The Center for Health, Communication, and the Public Good & The Institute for the Arts, Humanities and Social Justice hosted, Code Red: A Film Screening directed by Jessica McGaugh and Panel Discussion About Period Taboos hosted by Kishauna Soljour, Associate Director of the Institute for the Arts, Humanities and Social Justice.

On October 24th, 2023, Dr. Nalini Nadkarni visited the Prison Arts Collective office space to share her work and discuss the future of educational programs in prison spaces.

On May 2nd, 2023, Mackenzie Moore, the 2022-2023 Research Assistant to the IAHSJ, hosted a student-centered gathering with a screening of two films from the Africa World Documentary Film Festival, titled “DANCEDANCE/RE♢VOLUTION” and “The Rise of the African Female Drummer.”
